- Markdown: https://www.si-bookbalance.gr/en/tools/employee-cost.md

Covers the common case of a private-sector employee (e-EFKA). It does not cover special insurance categories and does not compute income tax or withholding: the result is "net before tax".

## Inputs

- Employee type: salaried employee (monthly salary) or manual worker (daily wage × days per month)
- Pay basis: final gross (nothing is added on top) or base pay (seniority steps and an optional marriage allowance are added)
- Optional: show the annual cost, with or without Christmas bonus, Easter bonus and vacation allowance

## Outputs

Gross pay, employee contributions, net before tax, employer contributions and total employer cost, for a typical month and optionally per year.

## Parameters (version 2026.2, reviewed 2026-10-04)

- Private-sector employee – common case (e-EFKA) (`private_standard`): employer 21.79%, employee 13.37%, monthly insurable ceiling €7,761.94
- Salaried employee (monthly salary): minimum €920 from 2026-04-01; seniority 10% per 3-year step, up to 3 steps; bonuses: christmas 1 months, easter 0.5 months, vacation 0.5 months
- Manual worker (daily wage): minimum €41.09 from 2026-04-01; seniority 5% per 3-year step, up to 6 steps; bonuses: christmas 25 days, easter 15 days, vacation 13 days
- Marriage allowance: never automatic; only when a collective agreement, contract or other binding rule provides it (default 10% of base pay)

## Method

1. Gross = final gross entered, or base pay × (1 + seniority steps × step rate + marriage allowance rate). With a final gross, seniority and allowances are never added again.
2. Contributions = min(earnings of the month, monthly ceiling) × rate, applied month by month (bonus months included), for employee and employer.
3. Net before tax = gross − employee contributions.
4. Total employer cost = gross + employer contributions.
5. Annual = 12 monthly salaries plus, where applicable, Christmas bonus, Easter bonus and vacation allowance.

Not modelled: income-tax withholding, overtime, severance and special insurance categories.

Important notice: The calculator's results are indicative and are based on the data and parameters entered by the user and on the rules built into the tool at the time of use. Actual cost, deductions and net amounts may differ depending on the real facts of the employment relationship, the legislation in force and any special cases. The result is not a final calculation, personalised accounting/tax advice or a binding quote.
