## How it works

- Greek VAT rates supported: 24%, 13%, 6%
- Net to gross: gross = net × (1 + rate)
- Gross to net: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate); VAT = gross − net
- Results are rounded to the cent.

To add VAT to a net amount, multiply by (1 + rate). For example, at 24% the net amount is multiplied by 1.24.

To remove VAT from a gross amount, divide by (1 + rate). At 24% the gross amount is divided by 1.24. The VAT is the difference between the two amounts.

The calculator rounds to two decimals, as on invoices.

## FAQ

### How is VAT calculated?

Gross amount = net amount × (1 + rate). VAT = gross amount − net amount.

### How do I remove VAT from an amount that includes it?

Divide the gross amount by (1 + rate). At 24% you divide by 1.24 to get the net amount. The difference is the VAT.

### What are the VAT rates in Greece?

On the mainland the rates are 24% (standard), 13% (reduced) and 6% (super-reduced). Some islands have lower rates.

### Which rate applies to my product or service?

It depends on the type of product or service. If you are unsure, ask your accountant before issuing an invoice.
