How Greek income tax is calculated
Income tax in Greece is progressive: your income is split into brackets and each bracket is taxed at its own rate. Your whole income is not taxed at the highest rate, only the part above each threshold.
The rates depend on age (up to 25 or over), the number of children and the type of income. Employment income, pensions and business income share one scale, while rental income has its own.
The calculator shows the basic tax on gross income. It does not include social-security contributions, the solidarity contribution or deductions, which vary by case.

How does age affect taxation?
For 2026, there are separate tax scales for taxpayers up to 25 years old and over 25 years old.
How do children affect taxation?
The number of children reduces tax rates in lower brackets. With 4+ children, there is full tax exemption up to €20,000 for all age groups.
What's the difference between income types?
Employment/pension income and self-employment income are taxed on the same scale, while rental income has a separate scale (15%-45%).
Are there additional taxes or contributions?
Yes, besides income tax, there may be additional contributions such as solidarity levy and social security contributions. This calculator focuses on the basic income tax.
What income should I enter?
Your annual gross income from the category you selected (employment, pensions, business income or rent).
How does progressive taxation work?
Each bracket is taxed at its own rate. When your income moves into a higher bracket, the higher rate applies only to the part above the threshold, not to your whole income.
Does the calculator replace my accountant?
No. It gives an indicative result. Your actual tax liability depends on deductions, contributions, expenses and other details of your return.
Is the data I enter stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
